One of the most iconic battles in early Kentucky took place at the Blue Licks. Over 70 Kentuckians were killed in a battle with the Shawnee. This at a time when Kentucky was not well populated. On August 19, 2023 folks gathered to commemorate, to the day, 241 years after the actual battle.
The events took place in two sections. At 10 AM members of the SAR (Sons of the American Revolution) met at the monument for a solemn ceremony with flags, fife and drums, speakers, wreaths and a full gun salute.
At 3 PM re-enactors from several states gathered on the battlefield to give visitors a look of what the battle may have looked like in 1782.

But Natives and their British allies were not happy with the settlement. They were determined that the settlers would not stay on their sacred hunting ground.

We have come to realize several things. A resizable website is imperative in today's world when almost 80% of websites are viewed via phones. Changing over the thousand of pages and photos we have accrued since 2003 is a daunting task. Therefore beginning in 2021 new photos and articles will appear here. Older photos and articles will still be available archived on our older site. www.graphicenterprises.net
